Impulse Monitoring and Children's Hospital of Central California Ink IONM Agreement

Columbia, MD – October 27, 2010 – Impulse Monitoring, Inc. (IMI), a leading provider of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) services to hospitals, today announced that it has signed an agreement to provide comprehensive IONM services, including physician oversight, to The Children's Hospital of Central California, Madera.

Children's Hospital of Central California has the only specialized practice of its kind in Central California. From infants to young adults, the team treats all aspects of children's orthopaedic needs on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Board certified pediatric orthopaedic surgeons specialize in the treatment of conditions such as congenital deformities of the upper and lower extremities, spinal disorders, sports related injuries and neuromuscular diseases.

“We perform more than 1,800 pediatric surgeries a year in our orthopaedic surgery department while treating some of the sickest kids,” said Dave Hodge, Jr., Director, Ambulatory Division. “With Impulse's neuromonitoring services, we have added an important element in ensuring the safest possible experience for our young patients undergoing spinal, nerve and brain surgeries.”

IONM assesses neurological function involving the brain, spinal cord and related nerve structures during such surgeries. Use of IONM facilitates the surgical process and can reduce surgical risk by providing alerts to surgeons of potential harm to the spinal cord or neural structures. Under the Impulse Monitoring model, neurophysiologists located in the operating room work in partnership with supervising physicians who oversee the interpretation of neurophysiological data gathered via real-time broadband transmission.
