Founded in 2002, Impulse Monitoring, Inc. (IMI) enables onsite and web-based monitoring of neurological systems of patients undergoing spinal and brain-related surgeries. Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) changed the standards of care for these patients by reducing the risk of permanent neurological damage. Over the years, we have successfully established ourselves among the leading IONM companies in the country, having provided monitoring services in over 30,000 cases and serving over 125 leading hospitals in 20 states and the District of Columbia.
At the time IMI was founded, the prevailing model for neuromonitoring was technologist-based with no physician oversight. Any contracting with physicians was to provide post-surgery review of neuromonitoring records. However, post-surgery review of the IONM data provided no benefit to the surgeon or the patient. It was this lack of physician oversight that drove IMI's founders to offer an increased level of service that involved an onsite neurophysiologist with real-time, web-based physician oversight.
Today, IMI employs certified neurophysiologists (technologists) and partners with highly trained neurologists who use state-of-the-art-monitoring equipment to provide surgeons, hospitals and medical centers with a complete outsourced IONM program. Neurophysiologists located in the operating room work as a team with supervising neurologists who oversee the interpretation of the neurophysiological data gathered during surgery through broadband real-time transmission of signals and instant communication. Additional remote technical and senior neurophysiologist expertise is also available as needed, as well as access to a broad range of on-line knowledge resources. This approach offers a depth of instantly available resources to the operative team that they would otherwise not have
In 2009, we expanded our services to include autotransfusion and added to our IONM business with the acquisition of the IONM and autotransfusion assets of Hendersonville, TN-based NVMS, LLC (NVMS) also known as Nursing Visioned Medical Services.
“Our decision to offer Impulse Monitoring's IONM services not only reinforces our mission to deliver to our patients the highest quality health care services possible, but also offers our surgeons an added dimension of support to minimize surgical risk and promote the best possible patient surgical outcomes.”
